It has been an interesting week, with some challenges. A few weeks ago I got my first full-body-check at a Dermatologist. Of course on my first visit they find a "abnormal mole" on my chest that has to be dug out and stitched up.
Great!
Doc prescribed me to no strenuous exercise, weight lifting, or swimming. I mostly abide to the those rules, which has left me on dry land for the week.
So it seemed like a perfect time for another tattoo.... or two! :)
I have a few ongoing sessions for my back/shoulder tat, so I'll wait to post that final photo. I'm super pumped about it!
It will, however, leave me on dry land for most of this month.
Pool chlorine, germs, and urine is probably not good for open wounds.
Good News: I swam a 2400y session in Week 3, which is the most I've ever done.
I am feeling confident in the swim section.... for now.
I actually tried to get in the pool, but the Y won't let you swim indoors during an outdoor thunderstorm. Something about the building being struck by lightning, then I could get electrocuted in the water?
Seems legit.
Needless to say, I'm all about the sunscreen now. Not only to care for my new ink, but this mole removal really freaked me out!
Get yourself checked folks! Skin cancer is the most common, yet most preventative forms of cancer.
In the meantime, I'll be rockin' the bikes and runs.
I did ride Friday 10 miles (no pads), Saturday 37 miles (big pads), and Sunday 34 miles (tri pads).
I'm struggling with building up my butt bone calluses. Not enough natural padding back there to go pad-less!
I also tried a caffeinated INFINIT blend on Saturday, and I think it fended off the cramps and tiredness pretty well. Pizza Friday night helped too.
My Louisville Landshark buddy, Chris, was my riding partner on Saturday. He has some great insight on IM training. Thanks Chris!
Unfortunately, a few too many Saturday evening beers and tired legs slowed me down for the Sunday ride. But it was with my gal pals Kelly and Tami, so I can yell at them to slow down LOL
All in all, I still got in a bunch of miles and I'm feeling good!
Next week beefs up the mileage a bit, and I have Tri Louisville!
Here are my notes from last week, if you are keeping track... and I know you are :)
