Swimming is not my favorite. I didn't learn to swim as a kid, like most everyone else. I was the kid (and adult) who always had to have a flotation device, because doggy paddle will only get you so far. Three years ago I figured it was time to learn a new sport.
I swam like an injured fish, flopping and gasping for air. I mentioned in a prior post that I met up with Mike from Swim Smooth Louisville to get a consult. I had a few sessions, and moved on.
I haven't really seen the guy since then, and I showed up this morning for his ever-intriguing Technique Class.
Oh boy!
An hour of fins, paddles, pull buoys, and heavy breathing... I was done with my hour. It was super nice to hear Mike say, "WOW! Big difference since I last saw you!".
So I think there is hope for me yet!
The Ohio River will be a TAD more challenging than the Mary T pool, but at least today was a good start in finding proper technique again.
Also, I highly recommend this pool! The 50m lanes are awesome, and everyone is nice enough to share. I've encountered too many greedy lane swimmers at the Downtown YMCA, so it's a nice change of stroke. (See what I did there?)
For now... Bubble, Bubble, Breath!
